Staff Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial information to ensure accurate reporting and decision-making.
  • Input and process accounts payable, ensuring all invoices are properly approved and recorded in a timely manner.
  • Generate purchase orders, record purchases, and ensure proper documentation for all transactions.
  • Identify and address any issues related to financial transactions, recommending actions to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed accounting records, including creating accurate journal entries for bank and credit card transactions.
  • Receive and process incoming mail and checks, ensuring proper documentation and secure handling.
  • Deposit checks, track funds, and maintain supporting financial records.
  • Generate monthly invoices for pharmaceutical programs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual terms.
  • Enter daily sales data into the accounting system, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager in preparing for month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Collect, verify, and record employee expense reports.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Manager on special projects, process improvements, and system optimizations.
  • Payroll back up as needed.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software is highly preferred.
  • Experience in the healthcare or specialty pharmacy industry is a plus but not required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, with a solid understanding of financial processes.
  • A strong foundation in accounting principles, practices, and systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion and integrity.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged Sitting: Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods.
  • Repetitive Movements: Frequent use of keyboard, mouse, and office equipment.
  • Minimal Lifting: Occasional lifting of documents or office supplies (up to 10-15 lbs).
  • Clear Vision: Ability to read and interpret documents and screens.
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Typing/Keying: Ability to type efficiently and accurately for data entry and report generation.
